FAQs
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for a Scholarship:
- Are a United States citizen living in the United States who, at the time of application, have applied to, been accepted to, or are currently attending an accredited, college, university, vocational or technical school as an undergraduate or graduate student in 2025-2026. Proof of acceptance to and enrollment in a Qualifying Institution will be required at the time of Scholarship award
- Have been diagnosed with a dermatologic condition, at some point under the care of a licensed dermatologist, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner working in a dermatology practice. Applicants need not have been treated with an Ortho Dermatologics product. Use of an Ortho Dermatologics product will not increase an applicant's chance of being awarded a scholarship
- Provide documentation that you have been accepted to, or are currently enrolled in, an academic institution for the 2025-2026 academic year
- Submit an original essay of approximately 500 words that shows the impact your dermatologic condition has had on your life and personal experiences, as well as the role your dermatologist, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner has played in helping treat the condition
- Obtain 2 letters of recommendation
- Provide information about your school and community activities
- Submit the 2025 Medical Statement Form confirming your dermatologic condition and signed by the treating dermatologist, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner working in a dermatology practice. This form will be accessible to you during the on-line application process. The 2025 Medical Statement Form must be signed by you and the treating dermatology practitioner
- NOTE: You are not eligible for a scholarship if you are eligible for reimbursement of prescriptions, in whole or in part, by any federal, state or other governmental programs, including, but not limited to, Medicare (including Medicare Advantage and Part A, B and D Plans), Medicaid, TRICARE, Veterans Administration or Department of Defense health coverage, CHAMPUS, the Puerto Rico Government Health Insurance Plan, or any other federal or state health care programs
- There are no entry fees for the Scholarship, and no purchase is necessary
- Completed applications must be submitted and accepted via the online application process from March 14 – June 11, 2025 (There are no deadline extensions under any circumstances.)
- There are 2 scholarship categories: Undergraduate Scholar Awards and Graduate Scholar Awards.
- Each Scholarship Category will award 3 scholarships (total: 6 college scholarships)
- Applicants can apply to one Scholarship Category
- Each Scholarship Recipient will be awarded up to $10,000 for 2025-2026 tuition costs, which will be paid directly to his or her school
- Scholarships will be applied to tuition expenses only
- The scholarships are void where prohibited or restricted by law
- Recipients will be solely responsible for any federal, state, or local taxes
- Institutions must be accredited, two- or four-year colleges, universities, or post-high school vocational or technical schools in the United States
- Selection is based on a cumulative score according to the following:
- Written essay by the applicant (originality, emotional impact, audience engagement): 60%
- Letters of recommendation: 25%
- School and community activities: 15%
- Final decisions about Scholarship recipients will be made at the sole and absolute discretion of the panel of judges
- The multidisciplinary panel of judges will evaluate all completed applications received on or before March 14 – June 11, 2025, and make the final selections for scholar awards by end of July 2025. The panel has been selected by Ortho Dermatologics for their professionalism and leadership, and will be selecting the recipients of scholar awards on a competitive basis
- The likelihood of winning will depend on the number of entries and the quality of all entries as judged by the judging panel
- Ortho Dermatologics, at its discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate
Decisions of the judging panel are final and are not subject to appeal. No application feedback will be given.
- You should list your first choice on the application. If you are chosen to receive the award, it will be your responsibility to make certain Ortho Dermatologics is aware of your final school choice and is provided documentation that you have been accepted so that your check can be issued accordingly
- You will need to provide documentation that you have applied to this school
- All essays and the rights to their publication become the property of Ortho Dermatologics, which may use, edit or excerpt these entries including your name, dermatologic diagnosis, and the content of the essay for promotional or any other purpose, including placing them online at www.AspireHigherScholarships.com without attribution or compensation, additional or otherwise
- Ortho Dermatologics reserves the right to use the Scholarship recipients' names, likenesses and quotes in any advertising, websites or promotional materials relating to this competition without further notification, permission, or compensation to the recipients
- Scholarship award recipients will be notified by telephone and email by end of July 2025. Those applicants not selected may or may not be notified based on Program Sponsors' discretion. A list of Scholarship recipients will be available on the website at a later date. Please visit www.AspireHigherScholarships.com.
- Add admin@AspireHigherScholarships.com to your address book or “save senders” so important emails are not sent to your junk or spam folder
- If you decide to opt out of the email sent from admin@AspireHigherScholarhips.com, then you may not receive important information regarding your Scholarship. Ortho Dermatologics will not be held responsible if you are unable to be contacted based on the information you provided
Note: Your email address will only be used to communicate with you about your Scholarship Application. We will not provide your email address to any third parties, other than for administration of the Ortho Dermatologics ASPIRE HIGHER Scholarship Program.
- You must be accepted or currently enrolled as a full-time student*
- You must be able to provide proof of acceptance to or enrollment in an accredited college/university, or vocational or technical school upon being selected for the scholarship
- You must remain in school for the entire academic year without interruption unless approved by Ortho Dermatologics
- You must sign and return all required documents from the administrator within 10 business days of the date you were notified of the award (signature will be required). See Rules & Regulations for details
- All taxes, fees, surcharges of any kind relating to the award of a Scholarship are solely your responsibility
*If you have applied to an academic institution for 2025-2026 but have not yet been accepted, you will need to communicate your status to Ortho Dermatologics at the time you are selected as a scholar award winner. Once you have been accepted and made your decision as to where you will attend in the fall of 2025 or spring of 2026, you will need to communicate this information in a timely manner in order for the scholarship to be paid to the institution you will be attending for the fall or spring semester.
- Scholarships will be paid in one installment directly to the Qualifying Institution
- The Scholarship Recipient will be sent an email with instructions on how to mail and/or upload your documents
- The Scholarship Recipient is responsible for paying any local, state, or federal taxes required by law on the scholarship
